Arsenal Held Negotiations With €50m-Rated African Defender

The London giants look to have taken their first steps to secure the services of Achraf Hakimi in the summer transfer window. Arsenal are formulating an offer in the region of €50m to swoop the 22-year-old away from Inter Milan.

Achraf just joined Nerazzurri from Real Madrid last summer but could be on his way out of the club after spending less than a year at San Siro due to Inter Milan’s prevalent financial woes. In the time Hakimi has spent at the Serie A club, the defender has established himself as a crucial figure for Antonio Conte

Indeed, in 34 games across all tournaments, Morocco international has a fine return of 6 goals and as many assists, having become a mainstay in the team. However, an uncertain future borne out of the Nerazzurri’s financial situation has meant that several possible suitors are considering a summer move.

One such suitor are the Gunners. Gunners are in a precarious situation over the future of Hector Bellerin, who has been tipped to exit the London club come the summer transfer window. As a result, Arsenal have been linked with several right-backs in recent weeks, including Max Aarons, Tariq Lamptey and the Moroccan defender.

Among the aforementioned trio, Achraf’s possible capture would be nothing short of a coup for Gunners, considering his immense potential and pedigree he has already shown. And, in case the Spanish manager reverts to a 3-4-3 formation, Achraf’s qualities would come to the fore in the best possible manner.

Either way, it looks like the London giants are set to press ahead with their interest in the 22-year-old right-back by lodging an offer worth €50m to the Nerazzurri.
