Thomas Partey Drops Instagram Hint Over Mikel Arteta's Arsenal Team Selection Vs Slavia Prague

Arsenal will be looking to progress to the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League for the second time in three seasons when they travel to the Sinobo Stadium to face Slavia Prague in the second leg of their quarter-final this evening.

The Gunners, who brought an end to their four-game winless run on Sunday evening, defeating Sheffield United 3-0 at Bramall Lane, were held to a 1-1 draw by Slavia in last Thursday's first leg at the Emirates Stadium.

Tomas Holes netted a dramatic late equaliser for the Czech outfit in stoppage time after Nicolas Pepe had given the Gunners the lead with just four minutes remaining on the clock.

That means that Slavia do have the advantage of having an away goal to their name ahead of kick-off this evening, meaning Arsenal must score to stand any chance of progressing to the last four and booking a semi-final date against either Villarreal or Dinamo Zagreb.

Although the Gunners will be in for a stern test this evening, with Slavia having already knocked Leicester City and Rangers out of the competition on route to the last eight, they will have a sense of confidence flowing through their veins after recording a professional victory against the Blades on Sunday.

However, the Gunners will no doubt feel the weight on their shoulders as the Europa League remains their only hope of lifting a piece of silverware this season.

"It’s very important for us and this is our club," said the Spaniard during his pre-match press call on Wednesday. "It’s not individual interests it’s all a collective interest that we want to do well in every competition.

"Tomorrow’s game puts us in a position to go into a semi-final of a European competition and this is where this club have to be. That’s why tomorrow we have to earn that."

Ahead of tonight's game, Arteta has been handed the unwanted stress of not being able to provide a concrete answer on whether or not Martin Odegaard and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be available for selection, meaning he faces a potential dilemma in attack. Both missed out at the weekend due to an ankle injury and illness respectively.

However, Arteta has got plenty of midfield options available to him, with Granit Xhaka, Dani Ceballos, Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey all fit and available for selection.

But with Xhaka potentially continuing at left-back in place of the injured Kieran Tierney, it means two of Ceballos, Elneny and Partey will make up Arteta's midfield pivot.

While all three of them bring their own individual qualities to the table, midfield enforcer Partey is likely to be the main frontrunner to bag one of the two places up for grabs.

And that could well be the case if his latest social media post is anything to go by.

However, it should be noted that other players have done the same in the past when only named on the substitutes bench and not in the starting line-up.

Since joining the Gunners from Atletico back in October, Partey's maiden season in England has been plagued by injury complaints, meaning he has struggled to get into a consistent rhythm.

However, the midfielder, who claimed an assist against Sheffield United on Sunday, has been featuring regularly in recent weeks, providing hope that his fortunes are changing. Since joining the club, the Ghana international has racked up 23 appearances, chipping in with three assists

The Egyptian midfielder appeared destined to be heading for the exits when Unai Emery sent him out on loan to Besiktas at the start of the 2019-20 campaign, with alternative options being favoured in north London. Another Spanish coach, Mikel Arteta, has found room for the 28-year-old within his plans, though, and it could be that fresh terms are now thrashed out at Emirates Stadium. What has been said? Elneny has said in the Evening Standard: “Of course, for me I am always loyal to Arsenal. “And if Arsenal say to me: ‘Sign a new contract’, of course I would be happy to do this.” When does Elneny’s current deal expire? Arsenal snapped up a hard-working performer from FC Basel in January 2016. Elneny has taken in 119 appearances for the...

Two Premier League Clubs Want On-Loan Arsenal Man

Crystal Palace and Leeds United are interested in signing Ainsley Maitland-Niles in the summer. The Arsenal man has spent this second half of the season on loan at West Brom after finding first-team chances scarce at the Emirates. He could have joined several teams but chose Sam Allardyce’s struggling side because they guaranteed him minutes in midfield. He has been an ever-present in their team since he made the move from the Emirates. It remains unclear if his performances have earned him the right to get more playing time at Arsenal next season. However, if the Gunners decide that he can leave, the two Premier League teams will pounce to sign him, according to Mirror Football. They face competition from AS Monaco from outside, but he is likely to choose an England stay. Leeds has been one of the best teams to watch in the Premier League this season. Arsenal Started Negotiations With 19-Year-Old Brazilian Striker

Kaio Jorge has become a hot property in the transfer market ahead of the summer transfer window.   The Brazilian centre-forward is being chased by Arsenal and Chelsea among several other top European teams, with his contract with Santos running out in December. Kaio joined the Santos academy in 2012 at the age of 10 before making rapid strides within the youth setup. Jorge made such a quick impression on his youth bosses that he ended up making his first-team debut in 2018 while still only 16. Since then, he has progressed considerably and has gone on to play 50 further games for Santos. The Brazilian club, though, are in a precarious position over the future of the 19-year-old striker, whose current deal will expire when the year ends. This situation has alerted a number of top clubs in Europe, including Gunners and Chelsea, to the possible availability of the 19-year-old striker. Gunners are set to be forced into the market for a striker owing to the uncertain future of Ale...
