Nothing I've Ever Seen before: Mat Ryan On Arsenal Training

Mat Ryan joined Arsenal from Brighton on loan in January, and he hasn’t hidden the fact that he considers this to be a step up in his career. He already had to apologise to his parent club’s supporters for some comments he made immediately after the move.

Speaking this week, Ryan was more tactful in his assessment of Brighton but continued to insist that Arsenal are on another level.

“All due respect to Brighton, they’re a great club with great facilities and have some great players and I enjoyed the setup and competitiveness also as well,” Ryan said.

“But, as you touched on, there’s the magnitude of the clubs. The budget and resources that a club like Arsenal has and the players and quality of players it can attract, and it’s no more evident than on the training pitch.

“Some of the individual qualities that are out there are like nothing I’ve ever seen before.

“I think I’ve improved in that aspect, being day-in-day-out with these players, witnessing what they’re doing, the speed at which they’re doing things, the demands of one another.

“They’ve all been little lessons in my time here that I feel have helped me grow as a goalkeeper and believe in myself even more.”

In fairness to Ryan, it certainly does seems as though his performances have gone up a level since joining Arsenal. Though he’s only played three games, he’s hardly put a foot wrong, and his header against Fulham certainly endeared him to the fans.

When Ryan joined, there was some talk about his xGA underperformance in the first half of the season with Brighton. But his three games at Arsenal have flipped that on its head, and he’s overperforming in those same stats with the Gunners.

Whether he can keep that up if he starts in bigger games in future is another matter. For the time being, he can only perform against the teams he’s facing.

Elneny Eyeing New Contract At Arsenal After Earning Second Chance Under Arteta

The Egyptian midfielder spent the 2019-20 season on loan at Besiktas but has been welcomed back into the Gunners fold by a Spanish tactician Mohamed Elneny is looking to complete a remarkable turnaround at Arsenal by landing himself a contract extension. The Egyptian midfielder appeared destined to be heading for the exits when Unai Emery sent him out on loan to Besiktas at the start of the 2019-20 campaign, with alternative options being favoured in north London. Another Spanish coach, Mikel Arteta, has found room for the 28-year-old within his plans, though, and it could be that fresh terms are now thrashed out at Emirates Stadium. What has been said? Elneny has said in the Evening Standard: “Of course, for me I am always loyal to Arsenal. “And if Arsenal say to me: ‘Sign a new contract’, of course I would be happy to do this.” When does Elneny’s current deal expire? Arsenal snapped up a hard-working performer from FC Basel in January 2016. Elneny has taken in 119 appearances for the...

Two Premier League Clubs Want On-Loan Arsenal Man

Crystal Palace and Leeds United are interested in signing Ainsley Maitland-Niles in the summer. The Arsenal man has spent this second half of the season on loan at West Brom after finding first-team chances scarce at the Emirates. He could have joined several teams but chose Sam Allardyce’s struggling side because they guaranteed him minutes in midfield. He has been an ever-present in their team since he made the move from the Emirates. It remains unclear if his performances have earned him the right to get more playing time at Arsenal next season. However, if the Gunners decide that he can leave, the two Premier League teams will pounce to sign him, according to Mirror Football. They face competition from AS Monaco from outside, but he is likely to choose an England stay. Leeds has been one of the best teams to watch in the Premier League this season. Palace is looking to reduce the average age of their squad when the transfer window reopens again and they consider him to be one ...

Arsenal Started Negotiations With 19-Year-Old Brazilian Striker

Kaio Jorge has become a hot property in the transfer market ahead of the summer transfer window.   The Brazilian centre-forward is being chased by Arsenal and Chelsea among several other top European teams, with his contract with Santos running out in December. Kaio joined the Santos academy in 2012 at the age of 10 before making rapid strides within the youth setup. Jorge made such a quick impression on his youth bosses that he ended up making his first-team debut in 2018 while still only 16. Since then, he has progressed considerably and has gone on to play 50 further games for Santos. The Brazilian club, though, are in a precarious position over the future of the 19-year-old striker, whose current deal will expire when the year ends. This situation has alerted a number of top clubs in Europe, including Gunners and Chelsea, to the possible availability of the 19-year-old striker. Gunners are set to be forced into the market for a striker owing to the uncertain future of Ale...
